A Bill "The Butcher" Cutting (Daniel Day-Lewis) costume display from Martin Scorsese's historical crime drama Gangs of New York. Bill wore his costume while showing Amsterdam Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio) around the Five Points, and he wore his hat during the scene where an assassin almost killed him at the theatre.

Designed by Oscar®-winning costume designer Sandy Powell, the lot consists of a cotton shirt labelled "D. Day-Lewis 'Bill the Butcher' (Hero)"; a waistcoat labelled "Daniel Day-Lewis 'Bill the Butcher' (Hero Sc. 48-50-51-93)"; a woollen coat labelled "Daniel Day-Lewis 'Bill the Butcher' (Hero) Sc. 50-51-93-117-54-128-129-129A-131-134"; a pair of woollen trousers labelled "Daniel Day-Lewis 'Bill the Butcher' Sc. 48-50-51-54 (Hero)"; a pair of brown leather boots, both faintly labelled "Daniel Day-Lewis 45"; a necktie labelled "D. Day-Lewis (Bill)"; and a top hat.

The costume is presented on a custom-made display which features the character's name and the film's title on the base. It has minor wear from production use and age, including loose threading and plucking, and the hat has some staining around the brim.
