A US M1 helmet with two USMC 8-point utility covers from Stanley Kubrick's Vietnam War film Full Metal Jacket. American soldiers wore M1 helmets throughout the campaign in Vietnam, while Pvt. Pyle (Vincent D'Onofrio) and his fellow recruits wore their standard-issue utility covers during their basic training.

The helmet's outer shell is steel, and its fibreglass lining is held in position by a tough nylon suspension system, which also assists with comfort for the wearer. It wears a cotton camouflage cover intentionally distressed to look battle-worn and scarred. "The Other Man" and "Name Daday" are handwritten on the cover in black marker.

Both covers are made of cotton. The first is labelled a size "Medium" while the second is without a label. Both feature internal inscriptions made in black marker, with "24" marked in the first and "MM" in the second. The cover marked "24" exhibits a stain on its top. Dimensions (helmet): 29 cm x 25 cm x 18 cm (11.5" x 9.75" x 7")
