A two-sided replica of Monica Geller's apartment door created for an interactive promotion for David Crane and Marta Kauffman's Friends. This reproduction of Monica's (Courteney Cox) beloved apartment door was made for an AT&T's "Friends" pop-up event hosted nationwide during the series 25th year anniversary.
In keeping with the set design seen in nearly every episode of the classic series, this wooden door is painted green on one side with a static door knob, a metal static doorbell, and a peephole with "20" numbered in metal in reference to the Season 1 episode "The One Where Nana Dies Twice." The reverse is painted purple with a sculpted yellow picture frame set around the peephole, a latch key, and functional knob and deadbolt lock set. The interior of the purple door is labeled "18" on the door and control panel, as well as "Door Key #18" on the mechanics' frame and "Ready for Final QC" on the door.
When plugged in and powered by the surge protector, the purple door opens, revealing mechanics on the inside that generate clips and audio from the series while looking through the purple side's peephole, triggered by a motion sensor, and a static image of Monica's living room when looking through the green side's peephole. The door exhibits minor cracking on the purple side. Dimensions: 40.5" x 12" x 103" (103 cm x 30.5 cm x 261.75 cm)
