The 1931 horror classic "Frankenstein" significantly influenced the horror film genre, introducing cliches such as the mad scientist, the misunderstood monster, and angry villagers with torches. Adapted from Mary Shelley's novel, the film not only made Boris Karloff an international star but also sparked an era of cinematic monster mania. Widely regarded as the greatest Golden Age horror film, "Frankenstein" was produced during the Great Depression for $291,000 and grossed around $12 million for Universal Pictures. The film's poster features a striking image of Karloff with his iconic flat head and neck bolts, making it one of the most recognizable representations of a monster in the twentieth century.
