Lieutenant Carl "Hero" Aldana's screen-matched distressed flight helmet from John Milius' Flight of the Intruder. After Operation Linebacker II was launched in the wake of Lieutenant Jake "Cool Hand" Grafton (Brad Johnson) and Lieutenant Commander Virgil "Tiger" Cole's (Willem Dafoe) successful mission, the pilots suited up with their helmets to carry out a daytime attack on the anti-aircraft emplacements. Commander Frank "Dooke" Camparelli (Danny Glover) flew with his bombardier "Hero" until the pilot was shot and their plane crashed in enemy territory.
Unique distressing present on the helmet screen-match it to the scene in which Aldana is shot in the head during the final engagement and the scene in which Camparelli is in and about the bomber after it crash-lands. The character was named in reference to the renowned production illustrator Carl Aldana, who contributed original storyboard artwork to the film.
This lot originates from Planet Hollywood. It consists of one helmet with a spade decal, "Hero" and the remaining letters of "T," "C," "LDANA" on it. It features a production-made hole on the side for when the character was shot by enemy artillery. It shows lifted adhesive, discoloration, and missing letters.
