Lieutenant Commander Virgil Cole's (Willem Dafoe) flight helmet from John Milius' Flight of the Intruder. Cole wore his helmet as he co-piloted the "Iron Hand" A-6B filled with standard and shrike anti-radiation missiles. Later in the film, Cole and Lieutenant Jake "Cool Hand" Grafton (Brad Johnson) bailed on their craft after it sustained damage. While Cole wore his helmet during flight, a damaged helmet like this was ultimately not seen in the final cut of the film.

This lot consists of a black painted flight helmet with a black and green hand-painted camouflage pattern, an empty visor compartment, and black foam padded earmuffs on the interior with cable wiring likely for use with headphones or a previously present microphone. The interior of the helmet is marked "L" and labeled "'Cole' Large Practical." This lot exhibits extensive scuffing on the exterior and deterioration on the earmuffs' material.
