A Ming palace guard's helmet from Ford Beebe and Ray Taylor's 1940 sci-fi movie serial Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe. Guards wore their helmets in the sixth chapter, "Flaming Death," while onboard Prince Barin's (Roland Drew) fleet ship, which mistakenly shot and pursued Flash's (Buster Crabbe) stolen craft.

The gold-coloured painted metal helmet features a tall, oyster-like crest on the top, rivet-like detailing and a padded felt band marked "7 3/8" lines the inside. The paint has chipped away in several places, exposing the metal underneath; there is a dent in the front, and the left strap has detached. Minor scuffs and loose paint are present. Dimensions: 20 cm x 23 cm x 40 cm (8" x 9" x 153/4")
