A confident high school senior, fed-up with dull days at home, decides to have an unforgettable adventure exploring his favorite Chicago landmarks. He recruits his best friend and girlfriend to join him. King of teen comedy John Hughes followed up "The Breakfast Club" and "Weird Science" with arguably his most popular film, which became the tenth-highest-grossing movie of the year in the US, earning $70 million against a $5 million budget. It received generally positive reviews from both critics and audiences, who praised Matthew Broderick's performance as well as the film's humor and tone.
