A stunt sword from the 1999 John McTiernan directed action/adventure film, the 13th Warrior. In the film, Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan (Antonio Banderas) is an Arab ambassador. When he is exiled from his homeland he comes across a band of Norse warriors who he soon discovers he is destined to join.
This sword, used by Ahmed in his adventure, would have been used for filling a scabbard when it was not necessary to have the full-weight hero sword present, and all that was seen of the sword was the hilt. This type of sword can be seen in the earlier scenes before Ahmed grinds it into a scimitar.

The blade is made of wood and painted with a dark steel finish to resemble the look of beaten, hammered metal. The hilt is made of dense rubber and made to replicate the look of black leather with a criss-cross wire binding. The guard has two dragon motifs and Viking-style decoration. The pommel is decorated with engravings and detailed designs.

Displaying some wear from use and time spent in storage, the sword has some scratches in the paint finish but remains in overall good condition.
