A Melted Chemrail Rifle made for Neill Blomkamp’s 2013 dystopian thriller, Elysium. In the distant future, Earth has become an overpopulated wasteland for the poor, while the wealthy live above in a utopian space station known as Elysium. When a factory worker named Max Da Costa (Matt Damon) is exposed to a lethal dose of radiation on Earth, he embarks on a dangerous mission to infiltrate Elysium in order to obtain a cure before it's too late. Designed and created by WETA Workshop, this melted Chemrail rifle was made for the scene in which Max breaks into the Elysium med bay to rescue Frey (Alice Braga).
This highly detailed prop rifle is made from resin and crafted to appear damaged during battle, with the body of the weapon melted through, exposing its charred interior. The rifle includes numerous decorate sticker logos and is equipped with a foregrip and a top mounted sight.
Due to production distressing, this item features some wear (see photos) however it remains in overall very good condition.
