Buddy's (Will Ferrell) screen-matched handheld Kringle 3000 sleigh jet engine from Jon Favreau's Elf. Created by Papa Elf (Bob Newhart) to supply Santa's (Ed Asner) sleigh with power since Christmas spirit was low, the Kringle 3000 was discovered by Walter (James Caan) and Michael Hobbs (Daniel Tay) after breaking and crash-landing in Central Park. Weathering along the body of this engine screen-matches to when Buddy was installing it under Santa's sleigh, allowing him to escape from the Central Park Rangers and save Christmas.
Elf was nominated for multiple prestigious awards upon release and was one of 2003's most successful films with more than $220 million in box office receipts. In the years since, it has emerged as a modern Christmas classic, with Buddy widely considered star Ferrell's signature comedic role.
Multiple versions of the sleigh's jet engine were created and used for the film, with this example designed specifically for sequences in which Buddy or the Hobbses needed to carry it. It is constructed from hollow aluminum with a slide hatch for accessing the interior as well as black and red vinyl stickers applied along the body. The exhaust nozzle of the engine is covered in black soot to appear burnt from fuel. Also included is a wooden crate custom-built by production and labeled "Hand Held Jet," as well as mounting pieces and four braided metal fuel lines. The engine exhibits rust stains from age. Dimensions: 54" x 15" x 15.5" (137.25 cm x 38.25 cm x 39.5 cm)
