Santa's (Ed Asner) pyro special effects Kringle 3000 sleigh jet engine from Jon Favreau's Elf. The Kringle 3000 jet engine Papa Elf (Bob Newhart) created to supply Santa's sleigh with extra power in light of recent low Christmas spirit caught fire and crashed in Central Park, leaving Buddy (Will Ferrell) to fix it while avoiding the park's Rangers.
Elf was nominated for multiple prestigious awards upon release and was one of 2003's most successful films with more than $220 million in box office receipts. In the years since, it has emerged as a modern Christmas classic, with Buddy widely considered star Ferrell's signature comedic role.
This jet engine was designed for pyrotechnic effects shots in which it appeared to be aflame. It features an aluminum compressor with steel paneling for withstanding extreme heat; a metal turbine with black and red vinyl stickers applied throughout; and a hatch window to allow access to cables concealed on the interior. Following production, the engine was decommissioned, though some of the mechanical pyro stems, including its internal electronics, remain.
Also included are nine metal hoses, 30 rubber spacers, two rubber machine belts, eight metal mount supports, a fan replacement, one mount replacement, a tub of fan blades, and a wooden shipping crate labeled "Hero Jet #2." The turbine exhibits rust marks from the burning of fuel, and the engine's wiring is cut, rendering it currently nonfunctional. Dimensions: 54" x 15" x 15.5" (137.25 cm x 38.25 cm x 39.5 cm)
