An animatronic Grendler head made used in the production of the 1994 sci-fi television series Earth 2. In the series a group of space travelers fight for survival after crash landing on G889, an Earth-like alien planet. Grendlers are seen throughout the series as a species native to G889 whose saliva proves to be a cure for nearly every disease.
The outside of the Grendler’s head is constructed from foam latex with a spandex mesh for strength and support. Painted with detail, a set of resin teeth are present in the mouth and the amber-colored eyes are constructed from acrylic.
Made from fiberglass, the shell of the Grendler’s head provides shape and rigidity. This substructure houses metal pieces and electronics used to animate the Grendler during filming. These electronics remain untested.
Showing minimal signs of wear from production use and storage, such as some marks in the foam latex, this head is in overall great condition.
