A rare and cohesive grouping of three original production drawings from Dumbo, combining major and supporting characters from two of its most recognisable sequences, an exceptional find for collectors of early Disney animation art.
A pivotal pair of original production drawings capturing Dumbo and Timothy Q. Mouse in one of the film's most poignant moments. In this sequence, Timothy defends Dumbo to the mocking crows, who then give him a "magic feather" to bolster the elephant's confidence. One drawing shows Dumbo gently holding the feather with his eyes closed, trusting in Timothy's encouragement. The companion drawing depicts Timothy, drawn smaller on the page, reaching out in support as he presses the feather into Dumbo's trunk.
The third drawing features two of the Crows from the iconic musical sequence "When I See an Elephant Fly", animated by Ward Kimball and part of one of the most technically sophisticated scenes in the film. The drawing shows their rhythmic movement and jazzy personality, typical of Kimball's lively animation style and his mastery of comedic timing.
Rendered in graphite and coloured pencil on animation paper, these drawings reflect the expressive clarity and warm character design of Disney's Dumbo. The coloured pencil annotations were added to give instructions for the ink and paint team. The delicate line work conveys both Dumbo's innocence and the emotional weight of the scene, while the inclusion of both characters together is a rare find. There is a minor tape residue mark in one corner of the Crows sheet.
This set comes directly from Disney's animation archives and bears production notations, underscoring its authenticity. An exceptional opportunity to own a genuine piece of animation history from one of Disney's most beloved classics. Dimensions (each drawing): 25.5 cm x 30.5 cm (9.75" x 12")
