Judge Alvarez's (Edwin Perry) screen- and photo-matched armored ensemble from Pete Travis' Dredd. Judge Alvarez wore his body armor when he entered Madeline "Ma-Ma" Madrigal's (Lena Headey) Peach Trees tower block to annihilate Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) and Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby). Imperfections in the material and multiple points of distress on this ensemble screen-match to when Alvarez and his fellow Judges arrived at the Peach Trees, while additional points on the gloves, vest, and jacket also photo-match to a production still from the sequence.
Based on the popular comic strip Judge Dredd, the film was produced by British studio DNA Films and shot primarily in 3D using RED MX, SI2K, and Phantom Flex high-speed cameras for certain slow-motion sequences, ultimately producing more than 4,000 frames per second. Critics and audiences responded favorably to the film's casting, visual effects, and action sequences, earning the film $41 million at the global box office and 14 award nominations.
This custom Judge costume consists of a fiberglass helmet; a black leather jacket with matching leather pants, both labeled "E. Perry"; black leather gloves with illegible writing; hero body armor with Alvarez's distinctive judge badge labeled "Perry"; leather Judge boots; and a leather belt with an eagle-shaped Judge buckle, rubber stunt shotgun magazine pouches, plastic zipcuffs and a holder, a rubber stunt knife, a flashbang pouch with static flashbangs, a static gas grenade, a medical pouch, and a breech explosive and pouch all affixed. This lot exhibits minor discoloration to the vest and minor worn leather on the pants.
Estimate: $15,000 - 30,000
