John McClane's (Bruce Willis) TAG Heuer 3000 Professional Quartz watch from Renny Harlin's Die Hard 2. McClane wore his signature analog watch - the same style of watch he wore in John McTiernan's Die Hard, similarly turned inwards on his right wrist - while attempting to stop Col. William Stuart's (William Sadler) men from intercepting Ramon Esperanza (Franco Nero) from Dulles International Airport.
Upon release, Die Hard 2 became the largest pre-opening film based on box-office gross over six years before the release of Roland Emmerich's Independence Day. Though initially greeted with mixed reviews, it has since been reconsidered as a modern classic and one of the best action films of 1990.
Originating from the personal collection of property master Mike Papac, this real-world stainless steel TAG Heuer 3000 Professional Quartz chronograph features a glass (crystal) cover and a slim grey leather band. It includes three dials on the right side and depth markings up to 50m around its circumference. Due to a dead battery, its hour and minute hands are stopped at 11:45. The watch exhibits scratching, slight rust to its face from aging, and cracking to the leather from production wear.
Estimate: £5,000 - 10,000 Ω
Mike Papac is among Hollywood's most respected armourers. Active in the film industry since the late 1970s, he served as weapons specialist on action classics including Lethal Weapon and Die Hard, and as property gun master for Predator - all within an 18-month span. By the early 1990s, Papac had become a trusted resource for leading directors such as Tony Scott, Renny Harlin, and Richard Donner, collaborating throughout the decade with stars including Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. His career has encompassed work as prop master and armourer on some of cinema's most successful franchises, from Iron Man and Man of Steel to acclaimed action comedies like Three Kings and Red. Original hero pieces from the Die Hard films are exceptionally rare, and Propstore is proud to present these examples from Mike Papac's personal collection - offered to the public for the first time.
