Marlene Dietrich's Concha Perez dress. In Josef von Sternberg's The Devil is a Woman, Perez (Dietrich) wore her high-neck dress when she visited the recuperating Don Pasqual (Lionel Atwill) to thank him and bid him goodbye. Slighted by her behavior despite his love for her, Pasqual refused to forgive Concha, prompting a change of heart that made her leave Antonio Galvan (Cesar Romero) at the train station to rejoin Pasqual.

The last film in the six Sternberg-Dietrich collaborations, The Devil is a Woman was briefly considered a lost film until a copy of it was provided to the 20th Venice International Film Festival in 1959. Actress Dietrich considered it one of her favorite films with Sternberg.

During production, Dietrich appeared in The Fashion Side of Hollywood, a compilation of behind-the-scenes costume and lighting tests designed to highlight the work of legendary Hollywood costume designer Travis Banton. While Dietrich wore Concha's dress, this specific dress was ultimately unseen in that film.

Designed by Banton and originating from Paramount's studio archive, this dress is made of velvet with lace hems. It features two hand-marked labels on the interior, one for "AU2" and one Paramount tag "1530-AU2 Dietrich." This lot exhibits pulled threads along the interior fabric edges and discoloration to the tags.
