A note, handwritten in 1987 by David Bowie to the members of his band. Bowie wrote this note to his band before the first show of the Glass Spider Tour at Feyenoord stadium in Rotterdam. This lot comes from the personal collection of renowned English photographer Denis O'Regan.
The note is written in black ink on white card, and reads "Alan Carmine Peter Erdal Carlos Richard Get down - Get happy - Get off if youre [sic] freezi.. . .. UNO MOMENTO!!! We'll sort it out in ROTTERDAM! Have a great, great show. I thank you all for your tremendous work. D.B.". It is addressed to the members of the band who accompanied Bowie on his 1987 Glass Spider tour: Alan Childs, Carmine Rojas, Peter Frampton, Erdal Kizilcay, Carlos Alomar, and Richard Cottle. Dimensions: 15 cm x 10.5 cm (6" x 4.25")
Denis O'Regan recalls:
"David's handwritten note was written to the band just before the first show of the 1987 Glass Spider tour at Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam. "Uno moment" was a joke that we shared with fellow Brit - guitarist Peter Frampton - referencing lines by British comedic actor Norman Wisdom. David and Peter were old friends. In fact Peter's father had been David's art teacher when they both attended the same school."
Established photographer Denis O'Regan has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Queen, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Duran Duran, KISS and many more. His renowned images span multiple genres, including Punk, New Romanticism, and Grunge, and have been widely published in several books and exhibited worldwide.
As a child, O'Regan witnessed The Beatles at London's Hammersmith Odeon, and as a teenager, he saw David Bowie's penultimate Ziggy Stardust show. A decade later, he returned as Bowie's official photographer on the Serious Moonlight world tour and would go on to photograph the musician more than any other photographer. O'Regan also became the tour photographer for Queen, Pink Floyd, KISS, and Duran Duran.
Other highlights in his career include covering the only Rolling Stones European tour of the decade in 1982, flying into Knebworth alongside Queen's helicopter for Freddie Mercury's last performance in 1986, photographing David Bowie by the Berlin Wall in 1987, and covering Pink Floyd's final tour in 1994.
O'Regan's Ricochet: David Bowie 1983: An Intimate Portrait box set is held in the V&A Permanent Collection, and in 2022, he was appointed the Royal Albert Hall's first Artist in Residence. His book, David Bowie by Denis O'Regan, was released in September 2025.
