A limited edition fine art print of David Bowie performing on stage at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada, during his Serious Moonlight Tour, photographed by Denis O'Regan. The performance took place on 7 August 1983. This lot comes from the personal collection of renowned English photographer Denis O'Regan.
The print is presented on sustainable acid and lignin-free Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm paper made from 100% cotton and is signed by O'Regan in black ink and marked "H/C 1/5", indicating that it is one of just five Hors Commerce examples produced.
The French term translates to "outside of commerce", denoting prints that are not part of the standard numbered edition and are typically reserved for promotional purposes, including exhibition and gallery display. Also included is a tour programme containing rehearsal photographs taken by O'Regan, and four backstage passes for Milton Keynes, Bad Segeberg and Quebec. Dimensions (print): 76 cm x 102 cm (30" x 40.25")

Denis O'Regan recalls:
"Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told me that the 1983 Serious Moonlight show at Commonwealth Stadium Edmonton was his first concert, aged 18. The audience of 60,000 was the largest in the state of Alberta's history."
Established photographer Denis O'Regan has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Queen, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Duran Duran, KISS and many more. His renowned images span multiple genres, including Punk, New Romanticism, and Grunge, and have been widely published in several books and exhibited worldwide.
As a child, O'Regan witnessed The Beatles at London's Hammersmith Odeon, and as a teenager, he saw David Bowie's penultimate Ziggy Stardust show. A decade later, he returned as Bowie's official photographer on the Serious Moonlight world tour and would go on to photograph the musician more than any other photographer. O'Regan also became the tour photographer for Queen, Pink Floyd, KISS, and Duran Duran.
Other highlights in his career include covering the only Rolling Stones European tour of the decade in 1982, flying into Knebworth alongside Queen's helicopter for Freddie Mercury's last performance in 1986, photographing David Bowie by the Berlin Wall in 1987, and covering Pink Floyd's final tour in 1994.
O'Regan's Ricochet: David Bowie 1983: An Intimate Portrait box set is held in the V&A Permanent Collection, and in 2022, he was appointed the Royal Albert Hall's first Artist in Residence. His book, David Bowie by Denis O'Regan, was released in September 2025.
