A coffin lid used in Tim Burton’s fantasy comedy Dark Shadows. Cursed by a to be a vampire and buried for two centuries, Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) is released in 1970s America. Can the vampire restore his family to its former glory, or will the evil witch Angelique (Eva Green) doom him to a life of misery and servitude?
After being cursed by Angelique to remain immortal as a vampire, Barnabas is encased in a coffin and buried deep in the woods by the people of Collinsport. Nearly two hundred years later a group of construction workers discover the coffin whilst digging the infrastructure for a 'McDonalds' restaurant, before Barnabas bursts out and quenches his hunger for blood.

This particular lid is the version used in the moments in the past as Barnabas is buried. The coffin lid is made of hollow plastic which has been painted a gloss black to give the impression that it was constructed of robust metal, complete with faux rivets. Some distressing has been applied, with dirt present on the panels of the lid.

Featuring some minor wear from use, some paint loss and a small crack in the plastic at the foot of the coffin lid, the piece remains in an overall very good production-used condition.
