Two original hand-drawn costume illustrations by Thom Botwood from Craig Gillespie's film Cruella. Costume Designer, Jenny Beavan won an Oscar® for the costume designs from the film.
The Petal Dress Military Jacket illustration was drawn during the production of Cruella on Redeem 200gm off-white paper. It is believed that this was the third illustration Botwood made of the Petal dress military Jacket that Cruella (Emma Stone) wore. It was illustrated so that certain design considerations that Beavan had wanted could be viewed. In post-production, this style of illustration would be used to decorate the red carpet events and was also used on commercial products for the film. It is illustrated in the "hand of Cruella style" concept Botwood created for the film, as if Estella/Cruella herself had illustrated her outfit within the film itself.
The Petal Dress illustration was created after the production and was used as part of promotional campaigns. It depicts the Baroness Car photo bomb scene and was drawn in India ink, Windsor & Newton inks, acrylic ink, fine liner pens, pro marker and permanent as well as intense color pencils, watercolor pencils and more. It took Botwood approximately two and half days to create this illustration and replicates the production drawing of Cruella's iconic red petal dress.
