Sheriff John Taggart's (Keith Carradine) costume with stunt hat, vest, and revolver from Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens. Sheriff Taggart wore his costume when he rode into the heart of Absolution to stand up to Percy Dolarhyde (Paul Dano) - the entitled son of Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford) - after the entitled young man accidentally shot an innocent bystander. A seasoned lawman trying to hold together a fragile peace, Taggart's signature costume identified him as one of the only residents of the town still determined to do the right thing in a town where justice was often placed a distant second to power.

This costume consists of a felt Bowler hat with "Bull DBL" hand-marked on an interior label; a jacket hand-marked "Hero No. 2" on a Western Costume Co. costumer label printed with "Keith Carridine[sic]"; a gold-color metal badge engraved with "Sheriff Absolution"; a brown twill vest with a Western Costume Co. costumer label printed with "Grain Branam"; a half-placket shirt; a leather belt with holster and "TAGGART" printed on the inside of the belt; and pants with suspenders attached. The costume is accompanied by a static rubber 1861 Colt Navy revolver. Production intentionally distressed this costume to appear well-worn and covered in grime.
