The Beldam's (Teri Hatcher) doll-repair kit with a Neil Gaiman-autographed letter from Henry Selick's Coraline. In the opening credits for the film, Beldam destroyed a doll, and used a repair kit to harvest the destroyed pieces to create a doll of Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) to lure her to The Other World.
This repair kit was a part of a promotional campaign where 50 one-of-a-kind handmade boxes filled with relics from the film were sent to influencers in various connected communities. This is box number 8/50 and is the only doll-repair kit sent as a part of the campaign.
This lot includes a doll-repair kit marked #8/50, outfitted with 22 non-removable sewing accessories in the style of the stop-motion animation from the film on the interior, with an attached key inside that has a tag with Coraline.com, and a password for the-at the time-new website; a Neil Gaiman autographed envelope; three photos of the doll repair kit in use in the film; one personalized letter to the original recipient of the box from the Coraline team; an excerpt of the screen directions detailing the use of the use of the repair kit in the sewing room opening sequence; and a signature from Henry Selick on a thin beige strip of paper used to keep the paper goods in the envelope. The repair kit exhibits intentional distressing to appear worn, used and aged; intentional staining and discoloration of the Gaiman-autographed envelope; and intentional aging to the recipient's letter. Dimensions: 23.5" x 12" x 1.5" (59.69cm x 30.48 cm x 3.81 cm)
Estimate: $2,000 - 4,000
