”For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm.”

Ron Cobb hand-drawn Conan concept artwork and printed Crom emblem designs from the production of John Milius’ 1982 fantasy Conan The Barbarian.

Orphaned boy Conan (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is enslaved after his village is destroyed by the forces of vicious necromancer Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones), and is compelled to push "The Wheel of Pain" for many years. Once he reaches adulthood, Conan sets off across the prehistoric landscape of the Hyborian Age in search of the man who killed his family and stole his father's sword. With beautiful warrior Valeria (Sandahl Bergman) and archer Subotai (Gerry Lopez), he faces a supernatural evil.

A set of hand-drawn concept designs, illustrated by production designer Ron Cobb, depict early concepts of Conan and designs for an emblem for the Cimmerian god, Crom. The set consists of two pencil-drawn images on tracing and white paper. One features an image of Conan beside a rough sketch for his helmet, and the other shows an elder with his arms crossed. Accompanying the drawings are two matching prints of the Crom emblem with text beneath reading, “Sign of Crom”. The artwork remains in very good condition, with minor edgewear.
