Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey, 1935
Appearing as Colonel Tim McCoy, the Western star would tour with Ringling Brothers from late 1935 through 1937. This is a more rare of the circus posters produced for McCoy's circus career.
The poster has been mounted directly to the linen without the benefit of a masa paper buffer, and the linen has been trimmed to the edge of the border. The upper border has been trimmed off just to the top of the art. However, the bottom border was trimmed off, which went into the poster's art. Several cracks and tears are now starting to separate from the linen. There is an abrasion on the poster's surface in the lower right corner and a "punch" tear in the center of the horse's bridle.
Tim McCoy was a regular fixture in Western B-movies throughout the '20s and '30s, when he switched to touring with the Ringling Brothers Circus, before setting up his own Wild West show. However, the venture proved unsuccessful, and he returned to Hollywood in 1938, eventually hosting The Tim McCoy Show on TV in the '50s.
