Rufio's (Martin Landau) crowning ceremony golden cuirass and tunic from Joseph L. Mankiewicz's historical epic Cleopatra. Rufio wore a cuirass over a tunic as Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor) was crowned Queen of Egypt. This lot comes from the archives of the Italian costume company Costumi d'Arte.

The cuirass and tunic are predominantly made of leather, with the former finished to look like gold, as are the metal details that adorn the items. The tunic is scalloped at the shoulders and waist. "Cleopatra Rufio Martin Landau" is handwritten with black ink on both items' labels, as is "Rufio" on the internal leather. "Rufio" is handwritten a second time in the cuirass with red marker. Both items feature internal Peruzzi costume labels.

The cuirass exhibits flaking to its leather, while a worn-away hole in the lower part of the frontal trim reveals the green plastic piping that gives it its sturdy structure.

Estimate: £4,000 - 8,000 Ω
