A Joppa guardsman helmet from Desmond Davis' action-adventure Clash of the Titans (1981).

The city guards wore their helmets whilst patrolling Joppa, home of Queen Cassiopeia (Siân Phillips) and Princess Andromeda (Judi Bowker).

Made from metal, this bronze-painted helmet features facial detail with raised eyebrows, nose and floral designs above the ears. It has a wide brown and white crest along the top and brown leather straps tied to each side. The interior was lined with foam for the wearer's comfort during the production, although this has mostly degraded or been removed over time. A piece of black masking tape has been adhered to the inside front piece.

The helmet displays chips, cracks and wear throughout – from use in production and natural ageing. It remains in very good overall condition.
