A mimeograph pre-production script from Orson Welles' Citizen Kane. After newspaper tycoon Charles Foster Kane died and muttered his final word, "Rosebud," reporters set out to uncover his life to find the significance of it. Welles made seven drafts of the script with the final draft titled "Third Revised Final." In all his revisions and drafts, Welles never provided a clear understanding of how he created his final draft. Each script made before production significantly differed from the film's final version.

Citizen Kane won only one Academy Award® for Best Original Screenplay awarded to Welles and cowriter Herman J. Mankiewicz.

This 1940 pre-production script was created using a mimeograph - a machine that forced ink through a stencil onto paper. The well-preserved script with screenplay credits to Welles and Mankiewicz features 88 pages with page 69 being noted twice with the script continuing as normal. It is noted as the "Correction Script" being created as Welles starred, directed, and produced the film while continuing to make edits and revisions, and changing the character developments, tone, and pace.
