J.J. "Jake" Gittes' (Jack Nicholson) screen-matched bar costume from Roman Polanski's neo-noir mystery drama Chinatown. Jake wore his pinstripe suit when he met with Evelyn Mulwray (Faye Dunaway) in a bar to discuss her husband's death. This screen-matches where the pinstripe pattern lines up all over the jacket.

Nominated for an incredible 11 Academy Awards®, the film is a fantastic example of the neo-noir genre and Nicholson is iconic in the role - a man on the hunt for the truth while sporting a large nose bandage after a run in with a henchman (played by director Polanski).

The costume features a wool pinstripe jacket and matching waistcoat and pants. All three garments have their original Western Costume labels, which feature Nicholson's misspelled name and the size information. The suit was originally navy blue, but exhibits discoloration due to sun exposure and now presents as purple, although the blue can still be seen under the lapels and at the back of the pants.
