Noah Cross' (John Huston) screen-matched broken glasses with a pair of unbroken glasses and a case from Roman Polanski's Chinatown. After uncovering that Cross had murdered his daughter Evelyn Mulwray's (Faye Dunaway) husband Hollis Mulwray (Darrell Zwerling), J.J. Gittes (Jack Nicholson) found the glasses Cross had worn to lunch with the detective broken in Evelyn's pond. The pattern of the cracks intentionally made by production to the left-side lens of these broken glasses screen-matches to the sequence.

Both the screen-matched broken glasses and the unbroken glasses feature gold-color metal wraparound temple stems and clear acrylic lenses with clear rubber protectors on the ends of the unbroken pair's temple stems. Also included is a black plastic glasses case labeled "Cross" on the exterior. These glasses were previously displayed at Explorers Hotel Disneyland Paris and Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas Room 2136, respectively. This lot exhibits grime on the case and tarnishing.
