A handwritten plane crash birthday card from the production of Robert Zemeckis' Cast Away. Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) read the Wallace Stevens quote "The most beautiful thing in the world is, of course, the world itself" from a birthday card on the desert island where he crash-landed.

This lot consists of a custom-made greeting card color-printed with a Sidney Stanley illustration on front and Stevens' quote on the interior as well as a white envelope hand-labeled "Johnny" in blue ink, both of which are alternates made by production and ultimately unseen in the onscreen. The card is hand-signed "Johnny, Have the happiest birthday ever! Score! Your Grandpa" in matching script. Both the card and envelope exhibit edge wear and light creasing with a yellow stain on the card's reverse. Dimensions: (largest) 5" x 7" (12.75 cm x 18 cm)
