Chuck Noland's (Tom Hanks) desert island loincloth from Robert Zemeckis' drama Cast Away. Noland wore his loincloth while spending four years alone on a desert island following a plane crash, having crafted it from a brown leather dress he found in a box after the crash. Coming from the personal collection of Academy Award®-nominated costume designer Joanna Johnston, the loincloth is made from leather and features a black elasticated thong sewn into it. It has a rusted metal zip on one side and has been intentionally distressed, giving the impression of years of wear. There is some additional wear from production use and age, including scuffing and scratches. This lot comes with a letter of authenticity from Johnston herself, a production brochure, detailing the making of the film and six pages of stills and behind the scenes shots.
