Chuck Noland's (Tom Hanks) writing rock from Robert Zemeckis' Cast Away. After his FedEx plane crash-landed on an island in the Pacific Ocean, Chuck used shale he found on its beach to mark the burial site of deceased pilot Albert Miller (Vince Martin) and to inscribe a boulder before he attempted to leave the island on a makeshift boat.

One side of this carved slab of shale features a chipped, smoothed surface, while the opposite side is more heavily eroded. It exhibits cracks and multicolor layers exposed by the elements. Dimensions: 7" x 4" x 1.5" (18 cm x 10.25 cm x 4 cm)

Additional Provenance: A 20th Century Fox Certificate of Authenticity signed by Fox Archives Executive Director Alan Adler.
