This is Fuzzball’s mechanical tail from the Michael Jackson short film Captain Eo. The tail can be clearly seen throughout the seventeen minute short film which was created exclusively for and shown at Disney theme parks in the 1980’s and 1990’s. The tail is made of foam latex, is ribbed, and transitions in color from a soft pink to bright red as the tail reaches its’ end. At the top of the tail, hair has been attached that ranges in color from bright red to light orange, perfectly matching Fuzzball's body. In addition, the top has a plastic handle with two knob controls which are connected to the tail’s metal endoskeleton, that when moved back and forth, the knobs allow the tail to wiggle, which helped to bring Fuzzball to life! This extraordinary piece measures 36” (91cm) in length and is in very good condition.
