Burke & Hare (2010)

Four Autopsy Photo Plates

Stock #19922

"Six years in the Donegal Militia I don't get a scratch. Three hours as a grave robber I get shot in the arse."

Four autopsy photo plates from John Landis’ 2010 comedy thriller Burke & Hare.

Based on the story of a pair of famous murderers, the film follows William Burke (Simon Pegg) and William Hare (Andy Serkis) as they fall into the money-making business of providing corpses for a medical school in Edinburgh in the nineteenth century.

These gruesome pieces were used halfway through the film when the French photographer uses his ground-breaking techniques to help Dr. Knox (Tom Wilkinson) visually and accurately document the internals of the human body. There are four ‘plates’ in total, which show graphic black and white images of dissected bodies and are printed on card. They are covered in a lacquer which helps give them their period look.

There is little wear from production use and are in good condition, with evidence of forming part of the large binder Dr. Knox plans to present.

Materials: Card.
