A Crucified Fyarl Demon from the fourth season of Joss Whedon's cult television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Used in the episode: This Year's Girl, this demon puppet was strung up by the cyborg Adam (George Hertzberg) who escaped from the Initiative bunker and began hunting demons. He directly resembles the Fyarl species, whom fans will remember as the demon Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) was turned into from the episode: New Man, also from the fourth season. This particular demon is made from both foam latex and urethane, and has been tied with fabric at the wrists and ankles, exposing his chest which has been brutally torn open, allowing his insides to fall freely. Parts of the chest flesh have been threaded with fishing wire, indicating that it was previously tied in such a way as to further display the demons' grotesque insides. His face appears to be once used as a mask, possibly by Giles, as the eyes and mouth have been cut out for an actor, however they have since been filled with a black fabric. The Fyarl demon also has horns and teeth that have been cast from resin features hundreds of strands of hand punched hair on the scalp.
Due to production use and age, parts of the foam latex on this piece is extremely dry and fragile. Please note that there are numerous breaks and chips in the hardened latex, particularly on the creatures backside and his arms (see photos). The Fyarl demon measures approximately 66" x 12" x 70" (168cm x 30cm x 178cm) and is in fair condition.
