Braveheart

Script Pages

Stock #70109

A script used in the production of the 1995 Mel Gibson historic epic Braveheart.

The film charts the life of 13th-Century Scottish hero William Wallace (Mel Gibson) as he leads the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I "Longshanks" of England (Patrick McGoohan). In his struggle, Wallace sought the help of Robert the Bruce (Angus Macfayden), a strong contender for the Scottish crown.

Braveheart features several large-scale battle scenes, recreating historic events like the battle of Stirling Field, the destruction of the city of York and the Scottish defeat at Falkirk. These are clearly bookmarked in the script by large rectangles of white card, respectively labelled in pen, 'Sterling', 'York' and 'Falkirk'.

The unannotated script contains pages marked between 2 and 117, printed on single-sided A4 white and pink paper. While it is mostly complete, the cover page and several internal pages are not present. Bound with a metal script clip, the script demarcates scenes with alternating groups of white and pink pages. It is dated 18 May 1994, with the legend 'Numbered Script Dated 18-May-94' clearly printed at the top right of each page.

Several pages of the script feature moderate stains, creases and tears from use in production. The metal clip also shows signs of corrosion, staining the front and back pages. However, despite this wear the script remains in good production-used condition.
