Replicant and combat medic Sapper Morton's (Dave Bautista) screen-matched (learn more about screen matching) cigarette tin, baby sock, proxy photos, and VFX photo from BLADE RUNNER 2049. Blade runners, including Officer K (Ryan Gosling) worked for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) to decommission rogue replicants-bioengineered humanoid servants that broke free of their human masters-and retire them. K found photos in Morton's apartment that provided clues about Rachael's (Sean Young) death and the birth of her human/replicant hybrid baby, and this lot screen-matches to that scene via the marks and distressing on the cover and inside of the tobacco tin, the stitching and unique tufts on the sock, and the writing and stain spotting on the back of the proxy photo.
This lot includes one metal tobacco tin, one baby sock, two color photos, and one green VFX photo. The photos are marked "6-10-21" on the back and one matches to the photo placed in the tin on-screen. The metal tin is painted with multicolor logos and banners in English and in a foreign language and features a hinged cover. The knitted baby sock was once probably white or ivory; the two photos depict a young brunette woman posing holding a baby next to a large tree-the tree where Officer K (Ryan Gosling) later found Rachael's (Sean Young) bones buried beneath its roots. The printed photos featuring the actress are different to the final photos seen in the film; final photos likely created with VFX, thus the VFX cards. The green VFX photo features white placement crosses at the center and four corners and there are holes punched in the centers of two of the corner crosses. The intention is for the actor to perform with these on set and then the actual photographic image is dropped in later, which gives filmmakers flexibility in what to show.
According to production wrap documents, this was the only tin and sock created for the film.
The VFX photo exhibits a dark smudge near the center cross; the metal tin features paint wear, denting, and scuffing; the sock exhibits dirt buildup, tears, and snags; and the color photos exhibit staining, edge wear, fading, and grime buildup; the lot remains overall in production-distressed condition.
