Sophie’s (Ruby Barnhill) nightdress from Steven Spielberg’s fantasy adventure film the BFG. Ten-year-old Sophie befriends a twenty-four-foot figure known as the Big Friendly Giant (Mark Rylance). Together, they attempt to stop man eating giants from invading the human world.
Sophie wears her nightdress in multiple scenes, such as at the beginning of the film when she is awake at the ‘witching hour’ in the orphanage and is picked out of her bed by the BFG’s giant hand. The dress is made from a light pink cotton with various patterns printed all over in pink, purple and yellow. The top features a bib collar with four buttons, and a delicate white trim adding to the garments cute appearance. The edge of the mid-length sleeves feature the same trim and the bottom of the dress features a gathered frill hem.

The back of the nightdress features an opening at the top for access to a harness for the actress. This dress was for special effects wire work on the numerous green screen shots. It remains in very good production-used condition.
