A mutant mask from Ted Post's dystopian sci-fi sequel Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Telepathic mutants deformed by nuclear radiation lived in the ruins of New York.

Designed by creative makeup designer John Chambers and makeup supervisor Dan Striepeke from concepts by Post and screenwriter Paul Dehn, this foam latex mask is hand-painted in shades of pink and brown to resemble flesh and muscle with blue and red varicose veins, enlarged ears, and mouth and eyeholes. The mask comes mounted to a styrofoam bust for stability, but remains fragile and exhibits extensive stiffening, cracking, and tearing to the foam from age and wear. It should be handled with caution.
