A background gorilla costume from Ted Post's Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Astronaut (James Franciscus) encountered groups of super intelligent ape soldiers after he landed on a version of Earth from far in the future.
Make-up artist Brian Penikas started the re-enactment troupe "APEMANIA" out of his love for the original Planet of the Apes film. After the troupe grew in popularity, 20th Century Fox utilized APEMANIA for promotions and sent them costumes and make-up kits for Fox's video release promotions. This costume consists of a long-sleeve, button-down shirt with a Make-up & Monsters Studios Brian Penikas tag; a black leather vest with painted purple striping with a Western Costume label printed with "2431-1;" one pair of purple cotton Western Costume drawstring pants labeled "4"; and one pair of green cotton and black leather gloves with purple painted stripes. This lot exhibits discoloration and faded labels.
