Messala's (Stephen Boyd) metal scythed chariot hub from William Wyler's Ben-Hur. Messala drove his Greek chariot, decorated with scythed hubs, as he challenged Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston) in their climatic chariot race. In his attempts to destroy Judah's chariot with the scythed hubs, his own chariot was destroyed. After the film's release, Messala's chariot was placed outside the Egyptian Theatre in California as part of the film's promotion.

This lot consists of a steel metal chariot hub with four tall scythed plates in the centre surrounded by four short scythed plates along the base. The base features four mounting bolts to secure it to the chariot. This chariot hub exhibits discolouration and tarnishing from age and minor patina residue around the bolts. Dimensions: 28 cm x 28 cm x 26.75cm (11" x 11" x 10.5")
