An original hand-painted cel (with original background) and two matching original pencil drawings used in the production of the "Harley and Ivy" episode of Batman: The Animated Series.

This episode marks the first depiction of the friendship between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy as together they embark on a crime spree in the vein of Thelma & Louise. The pair are tracked down to their hideout by both Batman and The Joker and, while the girls make their escape, Joker picks up a machine gun and begins firing at Batman.

These multi-cel displays offer a clear insight into the animation process showing the journey from pencil drawing to painted cel. We can see clearly how the blue coloured pencil on the drawings denotes the shadowing which has become synonymous with the show's "dark deco" aesthetic.

Presented framed, the piece is accompanied by a Warner Bros Certificate of Authenticity. Dimensions (framed): 46 x 108 x 3 cm (18" x 42.25" x 1.25")
