An original pencil storyboard used in the production of the Tim Burton comic book adaptation Batman. As the mayor calls for a cut in crime in advance of Gotham City’s 200th anniversary celebrations, all eyes turn on the masked vigilante Batman (Michael Keaton), leading an undercover war against crime in the city. However, when Batman accidentally knocks mobster Jack Napier (Jack Nicholson) into chemical waste, he creates a deadly threat to the city - The Joker!
This storyboard, acquired from the collection of esteemed visual effects co-ordinator Richard Edlund, was used to help visualise the visual effects required for the scene in which Batman hangs from the belfry of the Gotham cathedral during his battle with the Joker. Rendered in pencil on tracing paper, the elaborately detailed storyboard shows a variety of buildings surrounding the cathedral, and is marked “Batman Dangles Above Church” and “Sc,81.2/3” beneath.

In very good condition from its use on the production, the storyboard is presented in a bespoke framed display featuring the film’s title artwork and a description of the piece. A fantastic piece from the climax of the film and a must-have for any bat-fan!
