A production-made prototype Batman (Michael Keaton) cowl from Tim Burton's superhero film Batman. Batman wore his cowl to disguise his identity and intimidate evildoers in Gotham City.

This black cowl, designed by Bob Ringwood and sculpted by Vin Burnham, is a prototype version with seams up the sides of the ears. This style can be seen in test fitting photos but ultimately wasn't used for filming.

It is made from foam latex and features the iconic pointy ears, sculpted brow and scalloped edges. To retain its shape, the cowl has been glued to a black fibreglass shell with metal rods supporting the nose and ears. This is mounted on a metal pole fixed to a circular black plastic base. The cowl exhibits wear from age and production use, including slight deterioration and creasing of the foam latex, and a hole on the front neck next to a previously repaired tear that runs up to the mouth. Dimensions: 25 cm x 46 cm x 56 cm (10" x 18" x 22")
