A Gotham City matte painting from Tim Burton's superhero film Batman. This painting was created for a composite shot of Gotham City seen just before the Joker (Jack Nicholson) interrupted the broadcast of the Mayor's (Lee Wallace) press conference for the 200th-anniversary gala. The lot was originally from the collection of credited optical cameraman Antony Hunt.

The matte painting is rendered in mixed media on a glass panel and features black sections in the lower half where live-action footage was superimposed onto the scene. The artwork has a black-painted wooden frame with string on the reverse for wall mounting. There is damage to the two lower corners where the glass has previously broken away. The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Dimensions: 55.5 cm x 93 cm x 3.5 cm (21 3/4" x 36 1/2" x 1 1/2")
