A concept artwork of two vehicles hand-drawn by renowned illustrator Ralph McQuarrie for the production of Universal Studios' Back to the Future: The Ride. In the attraction, visitors helped Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) recover the stolen Delorean from Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson). McQuarrie was the conceptual designer for the ride, which featured visual effects by Douglas Trumbull and ran from 1991 to 2007 at Universal's Hollywood and Florida theme parks (2016 in Japan).
This lot consists of concept artworks for two futuristic vehicles numbered "10" and "2," respectively, and rendered in mixed media on paper hand-numbered "16" by McQuarrie. The bottom margin is hand-marked "Ralph McQuarrie," "BTTF," and "70" in a different script than McQuarrie's, indicating that they were labeled afterwards and with the number "70" believed to have been meant as "90," as the ride was still in development in 1990. The page exhibits a stain and tear along the left edge. Dimensions: 8.5" x 11" (21.75 cm x 28 cm)
Sold without copyright; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.
Estimate: $800 - 1,600
