A Hero PPG (Phased Plasma Gun) featured in the pilot episode of the long running science fiction series Babylon 5. This rare item was made along with three other PPG's for the pilot episode, and is believed to be the only remaining PPG that survived the production.
This style was used by the production team during the pilot episode and was later abandoned for a sleeker metal version that can be seen later on in the series. The pilot PPG featured a fold-able handle that collapsed into the main body to create a compact weapon that could easily be stored on the actors belt.
This hero version featured a bar graph LED on the top of the gun that displays a red number that changes and counts down when a small button is depressed on top of the handle. The hero version did not feature the fold-able handle as that is where the batteries and wires were placed, and features half of the handle only, as a 9v battery was attached to the lower half, and was kept open so that production could replace batteries in-between filming.
This item is made from a fiberglass shell that has been painted black. It features silver paint details on the front, working electronics inside, and shows wear from production use, but remains in overall good condition.
