This is an art department maquette of the queen alien from the 2004 sci-fi mash-up AVP: Alien vs. Predator. In the film, the queen is found bound to a contraption with a large egg sac about to burst beneath her before a team of aliens use their acidic blood to free her from her restraints. This is the art department’s model of the queen bound in the contraption with her egg sac hanging below. The maquette is made of hard foam and rubber which has been crafted beautifully into a queen alien with resin head and rubber neck; large orange egg sac hanging below the queen, which is held by a rust-colored contraption with rubber tubes running from the queen to the egg. The contraption is held by a long, bent arm that extends to the back of the piece. This is all supported by plastic rods inserted in a long piece of thin wood. The piece measures 51” (130cm) long, 21” (53cm) tall, and 10” (25cm) wide. The piece is very fragile and some of the small pieces have broken off over time, but all have been restored to their position. The maquette is in fine condition overall.
