A light-up, mechanical CARB GS-221 submachine gun from James Cameron's Avatar. Resources Developmental Administration (RDA) SecOp soldiers carried several modular Cellular Ammunition Rifle Base (CARB) weapons, including a variety of submachine guns and assault rifles, as they fought the Na'vi throughout Pandora.
Entirely custom-made by Weta Workshop, this ornately detailed, futuristic bullpup-style weapon is constructed primarily from urethane with metal components on the barrel and interior rear from an airsoft M14 rifle. The body is hand-painted gunmetal blue and labeled with the "MATANZA ARMS CORP" company logo, as well as serial number "3587 36-248-ARC."
The gun features a textured front grip installed with wiring connected to a depressible trigger, as well as a functional red laser sight activated by a button on the forward grip, an "HC-i"-branded scope, and safe/fire switches on either side labeled "S," "1," and "A." The trigger - originally designed to fire brass prop ammo shells contained in a green magazine near the butt - activates a recoil mechanism when depressed.
Following production, this weapon's original magazine was lost and its battery was replaced. It is intentionally distressed by production with discoloration, scratches, and various scuffs from battle. The CARB exhibits a buildup of grime, rough edges around the scope, a loose scope cape, and a fractured top from production and age, exposing the metal interior. Dimensions: 20" x 12" x 5" (51 cm x 30.5 cm x 12.5 cm)
